The "Faithful And Discreet Slave Class" is it still a Doctrine / Belief ? of Jehovah`s Witnesses today ? 2018 ? or is it old light.
by smiddy3 ini have listened to steven unthank`s podcast and found it very informative and interesting and thought i would ask this question for anyone who is still a practicing member either a pimo or a pomo who only goes along for a family member ,whether this doctrine is still a part of the religions teachings ,or whether it has been dropped altogether .. your replies are much appreciated ..

I believe the phrase has been invalidated by the 2013 usurpation of the FDS title by the governing body... there's no longer a "class." It's amazing to me how such a blatant power grab went down without as much as a whimper from the rank and file.

Minimus, Bloomie thinks he's smarter than everyone because HE IS! Whatever his faults (hot-tempered and a bit of a grump), he's a stand-up guy, highly principled, and a mensch...

Of the potentially available candidates, Mike Bloomberg rates perhaps the highest, although ethnicity and his assocation with the liberal East Coast establishment would likely limit his appeal in the flyover states. Otherwise, on the merits, he's head and shoulders above everyone else.

If I recall, David Splane commented that their 2013 self-appointment was partly to disabuse the rank-and-file anointed out in the boondocks that their status as partakers empowered them to contribute doctrinal input. Whatever, it realy amounts to nothing more than a blatant power grab, a la Rutherford .

Weird love letter in the summer convention
by purrpurr inin this summer's convention theres a video showing the tale of a rather geeky plain looking brother whose relating the tale of how the prettiest girl in the whole school fancied him (!
) and sent him a love letter, the letter is read and it says .
"i think we would get along,i'm attracted to you, i like your personality, and that's not all, i think we could have fun together.

Room 215
Totally cringeworthy and poorly acted, as is most of the stuff shown at the convention.

Anybody here still believe in the bible?
by Mel Morris ini'm a current bible student of jw's looking to chat with someone about biblical doctrine.
i'm not interested in talking with an apostate or a fader, i'm just a person looking for answers and wondered if there are any neutral voices in this forum who have good insights into the bible.
i currently talk with a couple of jw's on a personal level from my congregation and they are knowledgeable to a certain extent, but i dare not ask them certain questions because, as you know, the congregation has a culture of fear that impacts trust and openness, especially concerning biblical doctrine or the societies teachings.

While I oppose any government's ban on relgious freedom, I must say that Moscow's contention that JWs are "extremists" is not without merit. (Imagine a Russian prosecutor in court entering into evidence the 2016 convention videos of little Sergei the voilin prodigy being pressured by his dad into refusing a scholariship to a prestigious conservatory, or the JW mom that refuses to answer her disfellowshipped daughther's phone call...how would that play to a jury?)
